Along with the individual soldiers, the online archive includes over 4,000 Union and Confederate regiments with links to 364 principal battles that took place during the conflict.

I’ve used it several times to look up or confirm information and it’s a wonderful resource. It’s very handy, and the site has been up every time I’ve used it, so it seems to be very reliable. It’s almost perfect as a starting point when all you have is a name or maybe just a bit of information on a a soldier
