Civil War Era Online Course
Dickinson College / Gilder Lehrman Institute
In Summer 2012, Dickinson College and the Gilder Lehrman Institute for American History launched their first online course in graduate-level professional development for social studies educators. Modeled upon Gilder Lehrman’s highly praised Teacher Seminars, the course provided an intensive five-day session on how to teach Civil War & Reconstruction using the latest digital tools to nearly three dozen K-12 educators from across the country. Selected resources from that experience are now posted at this site. During summer 2013, the House Divided Project at Dickinson College and the Gilder Lehrman Institute are expanding their offerings to include a full-semester graduate course called "Understanding Lincoln" taught by Prof. Matthew Pinsker. This course will also have a free, open component for those who want to follow along. Click on the link below before JULY 19, 2013 to register or to find out more information.
