The Kline center is a modern-style gym equipped with weight and cardio machines that provides a place for Dickinson students to workout. At almost any time of day, you will find students occupying the Kline whether it be for a team practice or an after-class run. It is such a popular facility that it tends to factor into a student’s decision to attend Dickinson College.
Though I am not a college athlete, the Kline has provided my friends and I with a comfortable place to relieve our stress. Whenever we have a particularly overwhelming day, we meet up at the gym to go on a run. Undoubtedly, the fast pace of college can drag you down and the Kline is a place to rejuvenate your mind and body in a healthy way.
The layout is appealing and convenient. When you walk in, you are met with a cafe that offers a variety of health foods to power your workout. Through the glass doors to the gym you will find cubbies to store your belongings while you work out. When you look around, you will see two stories, high ceilings, and glass walls. The bottom floor is dedicated to weight training and the top to cardio. Outside, there is a basketball court perfect for social gatherings.
The Kline is like other gyms in a lot of ways. However, its 2014 renovation made it particularly beautiful and sustainable in a way many gyms are not. Since it opened, it has won numerous architectural and sustainability awards. It also has a five-court championship squash venue that makes it stand out. While I personally have not used all that the Kline has to offer, the little bit that I have has encouraged me to maintain a healthier lifestyle.
