Students participating in the 2025 Knowledge for Freedom (KFF) seminar at Dickinson College (July 13-July 25) will post their initial close reading reflection essays and document videos here. Those continuing for college credit after the campus experience ends will also post additional close reading reflections and final essays on Abraham Lincoln and Frederick Douglass at this site. In addition, the site will contain a daily 2025 seminar blog produced by staff and student participants. Final dates for OPTIONAL online college credit sessions:
- Thu July 31: 10am to 11am
- Friday Aug 8: Second close reading due
- Wed Aug 13: 7pm to 8pm
- Wed Aug 20: 7pm to 8pm
- Friday Aug 22: Final Projects due
Attendance at these Zoom sessions is not strictly mandatory but students who must miss any of the sessions for vacations or work conflicts or other reasons, such as illness, must communicate with Prof. Pinsker by email. Each session will include some instructions and guidance from Prof. Pinsker, discussion about the Oakes book, and plenty of opportunities for questions from students. There will be notes available and also partial recordings. The project deadlines are fixed, though students who desire to do so, may submit assignments earlier. All grades will be recorded and transcripts available by September 1.
Students should email Prof. Pinsker by Monday, July 28, indicating whether or not they will be participating in the online course.
