These new classroom resources include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lincoln on Lincoln &#8211;a documentary short filmed version of Lincoln&#8217;s 1859 autobiographical sketch<\/li>\n<li>Lincoln on Genius &#8211;a new annotated edition of the 1859 sketch on the fast-growing Rap Genius platform<\/li>\n<li>Lincoln on Quora &#8211;a lively, well-curated discussion on the question, &#8220;Was Lincoln Self-Made or Self-Invented?&#8221;<\/li>\n<li>Lincoln on Multi-Media \u00a0&#8211;a full-page teaching guide to the 1859 sketch from the new site: Lincoln&#8217;s Writings: The Multi-Media Edition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The documentary short film (6 mins.) produced by Dickinson College student Leah Milller (&#8217;14) and narrated by Dickinson College Theatre professor Todd Wronski offers a compelling tour of Lincoln&#8217;s life through his own words and images.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/BEU-0NfWONQ\" width=\"640\" height=\"390\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>The annotated version of Lincoln&#8217;s 1859 autobiographical sketch now available at PoetryGenius represents the beginning of a brand new partnership between the House Divided Project and the Genius platform spearheaded by Dickinson College student Will Nelligan (&#8217;14). \u00a0We have created two classroom-inspired tools. \u00a0The first is a <a href=\"http:\/\/poetry.rapgenius.com\/Abraham-lincoln-autobiographical-sketch-annotated\" target=\"_blank\">general annotated guide<\/a> to the autobiographical sketch. \u00a0The second is especially designed as an <a href=\"http:\/\/poetry.rapgenius.com\/House-divided-abraham-lincolns-autobiographical-sketch-annotated\" target=\"_blank\">open Common Core platform<\/a> for studying the sketch. \u00a0Our new dedicated page at RapGenius can be found <a href=\" http:\/\/poetry.rapgenius.com\/HouseDivided\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Using the social Q&amp;A site Quora, <a href=\"http:\/\/bits.blogs.nytimes.com\/2014\/02\/09\/quora-and-the-search-for-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\">recently profiled by the\u00a0<\/a><em><a href=\"http:\/\/bits.blogs.nytimes.com\/2014\/02\/09\/quora-and-the-search-for-truth\/\" target=\"_blank\">New York Times<\/a>,\u00a0<\/em>we have created a lively exchange on the question: \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.quora.com\/Understanding-Lincoln\/Was-Abraham-Lincoln-self-made-or-self-invented-especially-in-the-years-before-he-became-president\" target=\"_blank\">Was Abraham Lincoln self-made or self-invented, especially during the years before he became president?<\/a> \u00a0So far, this question has produced over 50 thought-provoking answers, mostly from participants in our &#8220;Understanding Lincoln&#8221; online course, and has generated nearly five thousand views.<\/p>\n<p>During Fall Semester 2013, we built as part of the &#8220;Understanding Lincoln&#8221; open online graduate course that we launched in partnership with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. \u00a0That site, recently named as one of the &#8220;Best of the Humanities Web&#8221; by NEH EDSITEMENT, features <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/lincoln\/autobiographical-sketch-december-20-1859\/\" target=\"_blank\">an expanded guide to the Autobiographical Sketch (December 20, 1859)<\/a> which it ranks as #5 on a list of the 150 &#8220;most teachable&#8221; Lincoln documents. \u00a0The page includes a host of resources for teachers and students, such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Annotated transcripts<\/li>\n<li>Soundcloud Podcast<\/li>\n<li>Videotaped close reading by Lincoln expert Matthew Pinsker<\/li>\n<li>Documentary short film<\/li>\n<li>Custom Google Map<\/li>\n<li>Image Gallery<\/li>\n<li>Excerpts from How Historians Interpret<\/li>\n<li>Other Primary Sources (including the transcript for the 1860 newspaper article that emerged from the sketch)<\/li>\n<li>Further reading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Lincoln&#8217;s Writings: The Multi-Media Edition is still in development and will be further expanded in Summer 2014 when we launch the second round of the &#8220;Understanding Lincoln&#8221;
