The site encourages engagement in:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\u00a0USCT living history presentations and commemorations<\/li>\n<li>educational workshops, forums, panels, and open dialogues<\/li>\n<li>the preservation of USCT muster rolls and artifacts<\/li>\n<li>the conservation of \u00a0USCT final resting places<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The site grew out of series of Civil War 150 anniversary commemorations that culminated in 2013 throughout Pennsylvania and across the nation. \u00a0Among the events honored:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>the invasion of the Commonwealth<\/li>\n<li>the battle of Gettysburg<\/li>\n<li>Lincoln\u2019s Gettysburg address<\/li>\n<li><span style=\"line-height: 1.5\">the recruitment of 180,000 Black men for\u00a0 the United States Colored Troop<\/span><\/li>\n<li>the development of Camp\u00a0William Penn<\/li>\n<li>the\u00a0achievements of Pennsylvania\u2019s Black soldiers at Fort Wagner, Wilmington, and Fort Hudson<\/li>\n<li>the historic 1865 Harrisburg Grand Review<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This site serves as a vehicle for descendants, stewards, conservators, scholars, humanists, interpreters and enthusiasts to connect their efforts to honor Pennsylvania\u2019s African American patriots of the Civil War.
