{"id":3682,"date":"2014-08-31T12:55:52","date_gmt":"2014-08-31T12:55:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/lincoln\/?page_id=3682"},"modified":"2014-09-08T19:43:27","modified_gmt":"2014-09-08T19:43:27","slug":"lincolns-writings-and-historical-thinking","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/lincoln\/by-k12-standards\/lincolns-writings-and-historical-thinking\/","title":{"rendered":"Lincoln&#8217;s Writings and Historical Thinking"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nobody owns the phrase &#8220;historical thinking,&#8221; but the power of this idea for organizing expectations in the modern-day American K-12 classroom owes a great deal to set of determined scholars such as Sam Wineburg from Stanford University. \u00a0Wineburg and his colleagues at the Stanford History Education Group have developed a series of fantastic resources for classroom educators at any level. \u00a0Others at institutions such as UCLA and George Mason University have also helped pioneer historical thinking toolkits on the web. \u00a0Now, many standards, such as AP US History or Common Core, are also promoting historical thinking as part of their \u00a0program.
