The grandson of Shippensburg\u2019s founder gave the land, which had been used as a slave burial ground, to the town\u2019s black residents in 1842. Burg also provides details on some of the individuals buried in this cemetery (also known as North Queen Street Cemetery), including several of the twenty six United States Colored Troops veterans.
