Matthew Pinsker, <a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/appomattoxcrisis\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">register here to participate<\/a> (hosted by Diamond6 Leadership) with recording archived online for registered participants<\/li>\n<li class=\"ecxMsoNormal\"><strong>Monday, April 13, 7 p.m.<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Lecture on Mary Lincoln&#8217;s Assassination<\/strong>\u00a0with noted historian Catherine Clinton, ATS auditorium, Dickinson College, \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/clarke.dickinson.edu\/catherine-clinton\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click here for more details <\/a>(hosted by The Clarke Forum with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gzWQAsbNuJk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video archived online here<\/a>)<\/li>\n<li class=\"ecxMsoNormal\"><strong>Tuesday, April 14 (all day)<\/strong><br \/>\nVideo Tour of Ford&#8217;s Theatre, led by Dickinson professor Matthew Pinsker, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fords.org\/home\/education\/learning-online\/video-tour-fords-theatre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">available anytime here<\/a> (hosted by Ford&#8217;s Theatre Society).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Also, here are some\u00a0key highlights from the Civil War 150 with\u00a0the House Divided Project:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Launched an online database,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Civil War Research Engine<\/a>, which <em>America&#8217;s Civil War<\/em> magazine calls\u00a0\u201cone of the most compelling sesquicentennial online projects.\u201d \u00a0The research engine now contains nearly 14,000 public domain images and over\u00a050,000 individual records, covering the period from 1840 to 1880, with a focus on connecting visitors\u00a0to events and experiences as they happened\u00a0150 years ago.<\/li>\n<li>Curated\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/culturalinstitute\/exhibit\/lincoln-s-gettysburg-addresses\/wReow-98\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lincoln&#8217;s Gettysburg Addresses<\/a>, a special online exhibit featured on the Google landing page and in the <em>Washington Post<\/em> for the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.<\/li>\n<li>Developed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gilderlehrman.org\/programs-exhibitions\/understanding-lincoln-graduate-course\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">an innovative online graduate course<\/a> called &#8220;Understanding Lincoln,&#8221; with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History. \u00a0The course enrolled nearly\u00a01,000 students from 2013-14, from over forty states and four continents. \u00a0Participants in this course helped build <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/lincoln\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lincoln&#8217;s Writings<\/a>, a new website ranked by NEH EDSITEment as &#8220;Best of the Web&#8221; for its series on digital humanities resources.<\/li>\n<li>Produced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/hdivided\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">dozens of free educational videos<\/a> designed for classroom use and which\u00a0have received more than\u00a0400,000 views via\u00a0YouTube and Vimeo. \u00a0These efforts include virtual tours of <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/civilwar\/gettysburg-virtual-tour\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gettysburg<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.fords.org\/home\/education\/learning-online\/video-tour-fords-theatre\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fords&#8217; Theatre<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/vimeo.com\/album\/2446220\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">close readings of Lincoln documents<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=61mI1tricQI\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">interviews with leading historians<\/a>, and student-produced <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=p-2AMUGgtqc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">documentary films<\/a>\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=7GREeD2icUo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">video tutorials<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Built nearly 20\u00a0major websites on the Civil War era, including the <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/emancipation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Emancipation Digital Classroom<\/a> with its popular <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/emancipation\/spielberg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unofficial Teacher&#8217;s Guide to Spielberg&#8217;s Lincoln<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/ugrr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Underground Railroad Digital Classroom<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/debates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lincoln-Douglas Debates Digital Classroom<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/oahmagazine\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Origins of the Civil War<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/stoker\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">A Texas Farmer&#8217;s Civil War<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/cumberlandcivilwar.com\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cumberland Civil War<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/journalofamericanhistory.org\/projects\/lincoln\/media\/pinsker\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Digital Lincoln<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/150alums\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">150 Dickinsonians<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/blogdivided\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blog Divided<\/a>, and <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/lincoln\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lincoln&#8217;s Writings<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Established a vibrant community of learners and educators, including a distinguished\u00a0Board of Advisors (David Blight, Catherine Clinton, Eric Foner, Harold Holzer, James Oakes, and Anne Sarah Rubin), <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/staff-directory\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than 50 hard-working undergraduate interns<\/a>, nearly 5,000 K-12 educators trained with the project either in workshops or online, and several notable institutional partners, including the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, Google, and the Journal of American History.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Altogether, these online resources from the House Divided Project have generated about\u00a0four\u00a0million page views during the four-year Civil War 150th anniversary. \u00a0Yet the project\u00a0will continue to grow and expand in the coming years. \u00a0Please follow our progress here and on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/hdivided\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0068cf\">Facebook<\/span><\/a>,\u00a0<a class=\"c_nobdr t_prs\" href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/house_divided\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0068cf\">Twitter<\/span><\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/youtube.com\/hdivided\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"color: #0068cf\">YouTube<\/span><\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In April 2011, the House Divided Project at Dickinson College launched to the public at the start\u00a0of the 150th anniversary of the Civil War and now in April 2015 it is helping to commemorate the end of the Civil War anniversary with a series of special events and new resources.
