The collection is sub-divided into several topics, such as \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu\/themed_collections\/subtopic1d.html\" target=\"_blank\">Environmental Impact<\/a>\u201d and \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu\/themed_collections\/subtopic1c.html\" target=\"_blank\">Everyday Life and People<\/a>.\u201d Each one provides a short overview and lots of relevant primary sources. In addition, the collection has links to primary sources related to the Gold Rush \u2013 <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu\/browse\/azBrowse\/Frontier+and+pioneer+life\" target=\"_blank\">Frontier and pioneer life<\/a>, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.calisphere.universityofcalifornia.edu\/browse\/azBrowse\/Westward+expansion\" target=\"_blank\">western expansion<\/a>, and more.
