While some collections<span> <\/span>focus only on Illinois history, others cover a broad range of topics such as the <a href=\"http:\/\/dig.lib.niu.edu\/mexicanwar\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mexican-American War<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/dig.lib.niu.edu\/message\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">election campaigns<\/a> (1840 \u2013 1860). Each site offers<span> <\/span>primary sources, maps, lesson plans, audio files, and other materials. Be sure to take a look at <a href=\"http:\/\/dig.lib.niu.edu\/twain\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">Mark Twain\u2019s Mississippi<\/a> for a number of interesting resources, such as large collection of videos.
