Other sources include <em><a href=\"http:\/\/digital.library.cornell.edu\/cgi\/t\/text\/text-idx?c=mayantislavery;idno=07838504 \" target=\"_blank\">The Case of the Edmondson Sisters<\/a><\/em> (1848) and Harriet Beecher Stowe&#8217;s <em>The Edmondson Family and the Capture of the Schooner Pearl<\/em> (1856).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Places to Visit<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Edmondson sisters were imprisoned at the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nps.gov\/history\/nr\/travel\/underground\/va1.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Bruin Slave Jail<\/a>, which is on the National Register of Historic Places and located at 1707 Duke Street in Alexandria, Virginia. In 1854 Harriet Beecher Stowe explained in <em><a href=\"http:\/\/deila.dickinson.edu\/slaveryandabolition\/title\/0201.html\" target=\"_blank\">The Key to Uncle Tom&#8217;s Cabin<\/a><\/em> that she used information about the jail to help write <em>Uncle Tom&#8217;s Cabin<\/em>. In addition, you will find a\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.carlylecommunity.org\/?p=2000\" target=\"_blank\">statue<\/a> of the two sisters at Edmonson Plaza (1701 Duke Street). The statute was unveiled in June 2010 and serves\u00a0as a memorial to those suffered while in the jail. Visitors should note that this building is not open to the public.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/housedivided.dickinson.edu\/sites\/150th\/2010\/12\/14\/18xx-franklin-and-armfield-slave-dealers\/\" target=\"_blank\">Franklin and Armfield slave dealers office<\/a>, which is now home to the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.freedomhousemuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Freedom House Museum<\/a>, is located several blocks away at 1315 Duke Street.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Images<\/strong><br \/>\nThe image of the Edmondson sisters was posted online at this page\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/22067139@N05\/2176783222\/\" target=\"_blank\">on Flickr<\/a>. Other abolitionists, including Samuel J. May, Gerrit Smith, and Frederick Douglass, are also in the picture.
